The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru says his administration is ready to partner with every effort especially the private sector driven to develop Igboland.
He emphasized that entrepreneurs from the region should deploy their potentials to invest in the region
The governor gave the assurance Monday when the delegation of the Association of Computer Village Merchants of Nigeria paid him a courtesy call in his office, Ochoudo Centenary City, Abakaliki
“I will support you in every effort you are making to develop the Igboland”, Governor Nwifuru assured.
He stressed the importance of collaboration to increase revenue and drive investment in the South Eastern region.
“It is said the revenue of Ekpe, Alausa, Ikeja, and the revenue of Lagos State in one month is almost bigger than the revenue of the entire South Eastern Nigeria.
The Governor noted that Igbo indigens have contributed in developing cities outside the region and stressed the need to come home and do the same.
He explained the efforts Ebonyi State Government has taken in supporting home-grown ideas and innovation:
“In 2019, you were given land in this place and that place is my ancestral land, till now it is not developed.
“If you have the foresight, you will know where we are going. If you stay outside your home town for many years, you are still a visitor.
“You must think home. Whatever you invest outside remains there”
The Ebonyi State Chief Executive applauded efforts of the merchants to invest in the State.
“I thank you for coming to Ebonyi State to invest. For not looking down on us” the Governor said.
The President of the Association of Computer Village Technology Operators, Prince Tony Nwaokike said the massive transformation cutting across frontiers of infrastructure, and human capital put in place by the governor engenders the operations of the Computer Village Technologists.
Nwaokike said “Within the last 18 months, His Excellency Rt Hon Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has performed miracles in Ebonyi State.
“Our mission began in Igboland in 2019.
“We have been developing other states, but we deem it necessary to now visit home to invest.
“Other states generate over 1bn in Internally Generated Revenue from Computer Technologies.
Fortunately, when we visited home, Ebonyi State gave us hope”
“The previous administration of the state promised to support us with drainage.
We want Your Excellency to support us in this regard.
“We want to partner with you in the development of ICT in the State. We plead with you to allow us to develop in this strategic area of investment”.
