The newly asphalted 3.2km runway of Chuba Okadigbo International and Cargo Airport, done by Governor Francis Nwifuru is ready for flights.
Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has completed the asphalting of the 3.2km runway of Chuba Okadigbo International and Cargo Airport, Onueke, Ebonyi State.
The Airport which was built and commissioned in 2023 by the administration of His Excellency, Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi, had issues of standardization at the runway. This made the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and other relevant agencies advise the Government of Ebonyi State on asphalting the runway.
Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in heeding the professional advice of those bodies, began the asphalting of one of the longest and widest airport runways in Africa, a project of legendary status. Largely, this was because the Government had sunk massive funds into building the facility, as such, it has to be fully readied for optimum use for the good of Ebonyi people.
The newly asphalted runway has now been completed – marked, smooth and represents best standards for flight operations to commence in earnest.
The airport is meant to service Ebonyi, Abia, Benue, and part of Cross River States.
