The Honourable Commissioner for Border, Peace and Conflict Resolution, Dr. Donatus Chukwuma Ilang has lauded the Peaceful and Amicable Conflict Resolution Initiative of the Ebonyi State Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Builder, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru who has prioritized Peace in Ebonyi State.
Dr. Ilang stated this while addressing the people of Ndiakparata and Ndiezeoke villages of Igbagu Autonomous Community in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State during a Fact Finding Mission at the disputed land between the two villages.
Commissioner Ilang thanked the leaders from both villages including their Women and Youths, especially those who joined the team from the Ministry to go round their different acclaimed boundaries in order to ascertain the exact land in dispute for amicable resolution.
Dr Ilang who informed the people that Peace remains paramount in His Excellency’s Charter of Needs, urged them not to take laws into their hands and to desist from further destruction of properties, emphasizing that the usage of the land by both villages should cease until normalcy is restored to the land in dispute.
The Border, Peace and Conflict Resolution Boss further assured them that our Peace-loving Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Builder, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s mandate of Peace via the Ministry will definitely do justice to the facts gathered to ensure that permanent peace is restored to the land.
Earlier in their remarks, the Hon Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Chief Richard Idike, called on both villagers to embrace peace in order to attract Government presence to their land, he also urged the Youths to desist from being used as agents of destruction of properties.
Lending his voice, the Coordinator of Igbeagu Development Center, Hon Nwedu Obinna also called for calmness between the two villages, advising them to remain united for positive change in their land.
In their various responses, the Youth leader of Ndiezeoke village Comrade Ugwuoke Saviour Obumneme, the Youth leader of Ndiakparata village, Mr Jude Nwenyim Chima, the Town Union President of Igbagu Autonomous Community Chief Clement Eze, the Village Head of Ndiakparata Chief Chinweike Alieze and the former ward Councillor from Ndiezeoke village Chief Innocent Nwobu, all appreciated the Ebonyi State Governor, His Excellency, Rt Hon Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his timely intervention through the Ministry of Border, Peace and Conflict Resolution and promised on behalf of their people to remaining law-abiding as they await the peaceful resolution of the dispute, they further recognized the fact that they are brothers and need not fight and hate themselves.
The highlight of the Fact-Finding Mission was the picking of the boundaries of the disputed land by the team of Surveyors that came with the Ministry of Border Peace and Conflict Resolution.
