Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has paid glowing tribute to the late former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Onwe Joseph Onwe, describing him as an embodiment of humility and integrity.
Governor Nwifuru in his speech Saturday in Amata Ntezi Village, Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, the country home of the late former PDP chairman regretted that Chief Onwe died when his rich political counsels were needed most.
He stated that Chief Onwe, a low-tone speaker, was a just and upright man whose life was characterized by simplicity, humility, and generosity.
The Governor commended the late party chairman for restoring internal democracy in his party when he was chairman.
“When we were in the same party, I was an Ex-officio and he was a Deputy Chairman of PDP. The sacrifices of Chief Onwe contributed to the success of the party in the 2015 General Election in Ebonyi State.
“He made sacrifices for the People’s Democratic Party, PDP because of his integrity and sincerity, he will surely be remembered for these virtues”.
He urged the children of the deceased to close ranks and work together for a better tomorrow not just for political gains, but for the progress of the family.
Also speaking, Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi viewed the late Ebonyi PDP chairman as a man of integrity and honour whose regime saw an increase in the party’s membership.
Earlier, Pastor Kenechi Nkwo of The Promise of Christ Ntezi urged mourners and sympathizers to adjust their lives towards the realities of the last days and strive for eternal life.
To Pastor Nkwo, “repentance and good earthly life devoid of evil and wickedness will guarantee eternal life.”
