The Government of Ebonyi State has shown practical steps towards achieving a waste-to-wealth initiative.
In an inspection tour of Friday, September 6, 2024, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru took all Ebonyi State Executive Council members to Umuoghara, Ezza North Local Government Area, where the State has a pulverization plant.
It was a far-reaching experience, which availed the Governor ample opportunity to evaluate the machines procured by his Government and the one revitalized for the course.
They are all sorting machines, but the governor spoke clearly about the need to plan ahead for the ones that will engineer finished products. In the interim, the machines on ground are sophisticated enough to sort all manner of waste materials for the State to sell, given that it is a dumping ground for the State’s waste materials.
Governor Nwifuru took some time as well, to address members of the community who gathered to welcome him, appealing to them to support the project. Interestingly, the Government has begun the construction of the rural road that leads to and beyond the plant, to ensure increased development of the area.
This waste-to-wealth initiative is well-contained as an item under the Environmental sector in the The People’s Charter of Needs
