Universities of ICT, Oferekpe, and Aeronautical Engineering, Ezza, all in Ebonyi State have started birthing new structures, approved by the Ebonyi State Executive Council.
The Governor, who is chairman of the Council, effected the approval for senate buildings, male and female hostels, and junior and senior staff quarters to begin at both Universities as the State gears to become the finest and best in higher and primary education.
Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, while presiding over the State Executive Council Meeting of July 1, 2024, approved eight faculty, and hostel buildings, as well as administrative blocks. The award of contracts and release of funds to successful bidders was approved as well for the immediate commencement of the projects.
The approvals were made to ensure smooth take-offs of the Universities. So far, quality buildings have continued to rise in the new University sites. The Governor at intervals visits the sites to ensure quality work is done and in good time. While the rising of structures is still at the tender stages, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is leaving no margin for error, even by a hair’s breadth.
Ebonyi State Executive Council equally approved the resettling of residents and owners of lands given to the Government for the Universities. Currently, befitting bungalows and duplexes are ongoing in those places, for the families to be properly resettled.
New Vice Chancellors have been posted to the new Universities, a welcome development for the academic journey of the new Universities in Ebonyi State.
