The first batch consignment of medical consumables and equipment procured by the Ebonyi State Government for all general hospitals in the State, has been received by the State Ministry of Health.
The first batch consignment which comprises 141 medical items of various quantities, was received yesterday in 5 trucks, by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Ebonyi State, and the Executive Secretary of Ebonyi State Drug and Medical Commodities Management Agency.
You will recall that in his 2024 Budget Estimate, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, Governor of Ebonyi State, highlighted ‘Health’, Education, Human Capital Development, and Rural Infrastructure Development as four key areas in the Budget.
He has since assumption of office, employed 195 medical personnel for all the general hospitals in the State, increased allowances for the medical doctors by N150,000 each, provided brand new SUVs for each of them, procured ambulances for all the hospitals and announced his approval for procurement of medical equipment for the general hospitals.
Yesterday, the first batch of medical consumables and equipment arrived. This is another pragmatic example by Governor Nwifuru’s administration in ensuring that our general hospitals are equipped for excellent healthcare delivery.
The consumables and equipment are in the custody of the Ebonyi State Drug and Medical Commodities Management Agency.
